Not Worth the Price 1952

Katie Conte (Elva La Treque) plays a secretary hired by her boss’s rival to distract him and bring him down. This character is pure evil and shows no remorse even as she becomes genuinely fond of her boss and his family she continues to help destroy them. As she grows closer to the wife, played by Shelley Summers, the wife confides that she fears her husband is having an affair. Katie comforts the wife while hiding the fact that he is in fact having an affair and it is with her. Sky Rocket does an adequate job as the husband but the movie is definitely La Treque’s. Look for the sizzle when La Treque dances with the rival (played by Blanc La Rocque) at the Roseland. Arthur Welles masterful handling of the script makes Peter Dailey’s words come alive.
