Return to Sin City 1951
The story of love and how it can make you do things you never thought possible.
Trying to cash in on the box office success of “Sin City”, Mitsumount gathered the same team for a sequel and quickly learned that lightning cannot be caught in a bottle twice. While the studio was right to see and trust the passion of Bluegreen in the first script they should have realized they could not make him care about another topic in equal measure.
“Return to Sin City” has Harry Jones wandering aimlessly through the night when he thinks he sees Bobbie Holiday turning the corner. He knows she has died of an overdose years ago but he is sure it is her. Much of the movie sees him trying to track down this woman but when he finally finds her he learns it is Holiday’s sister who has come to murder the nightclub owner who she blames for her sister’s death. Naturally he falls in love with her and ultimately helps her with her quest.
The characters, though handled by the same team of writers, director and actors, don’t feel genuine and the plot feels contrived after the genuine handling and passion that went into “Sin City”.
